to remove it so i can mount it not the head just the rack and the top of the head where i **** it offHow to get deer skin off the bone so i can keep the rack the skin and hire in his head want can i put it in?
Cut all of the meat and hide off that you can and boil it (but try not to have the antlers in the water, if that happens tho, you can 'fix' it by using a light wood stain and an old rag).
What I find that works the best- fire ants. Put the head in a bed of fire ants and they'll do it all for you.How to get deer skin off the bone so i can keep the rack the skin and hire in his head want can i put it in?
If you just want the rack and the top of the skull to put on a plaque of sorts, than just use a hacksaw or a reciprocating saw to take the top part of the skull off. The saw should go an inch or so deep, then when you cut, you want the blade to come out the front of the skull right above the eyeballs. This will leave you with a thick enough section of skull to accompany the rack. Too think, and it can crumble under the weight of the antlers. Too thick, and it just looks a bit silly with all the extra skull components (eye sockets, etc).
Another way I've seen guys save their racks w/o taxidermy is to cut the head off at the base of the spine where it meets the skull. Dig a hole and bury the skull. The microorganisms and bacteria in the ground and left on the flesh of the deer will eat away the skin over time. After a year or so, pull it out of the ground, and soak it under some concentrated bleach water for a week or so. Rinse it off, and you'll have a bleach white skull, perfectly intact, antlers included.
i assume your speaking of a skull mount simply cut off antlers,, at a angle with skull attached ihave used a hack saw just start at the back of the head and remove the antlers by cutting the skull in a notch type fashion remember to leave enough bone to attach to a piece of wood i am sure there are plenty of how to sites out there ,,,,,,,,
skin is over the flesh...bone is inside the flesh.
They teach this stuff at a couple of levels in grade, middle and high school.
Golf ball... small rope and ATV or truck... you figure it out...very effective way to de-skin a large animal... a variation of old North American Indian methods to boot.
