Michigan and IndianaIn what states can you hunt deer with a handgun?
In Texas you may hunt deer with a handgun provided that it is chambered for centerfire cartridges. Of course, you wouldn't hunt (deer) with a .25 acp, .32 acp, .380 acp, .9mm or .45 acp because these are NOT hunting calibers adequate for deer size game. Generally speaking the .357 Magnum w/6'; barrel is considered the 'minimum' for deer hunting.
Rimfire pistols, revolvers n rifles are not legal for deer hunting in Texas.
Best.

Contact your State Department of Natural Resources in your state to find out about where you live, and if it's legal there. Varies state to state.
Actually, with but few exceptions all states that allow firearm deer hunting with allow deer hunting with a pistol. And the same minimum caliber authorized for rifle will also be used for pistols
