Deer hunters: Do Deer See Blue Lights?

Can deer see blue lights? I'm going hunting, and Was wandering if I'd be better off using a blue light or a white light. I gotta have some kind of light so no answers saying : just dont use a light....Deer hunters: Do Deer See Blue Lights?
Buy yourself Maglite with colored filters you can put over the lens. If you are moving around in the dark, use a red filter to preserve your night vision and not spook any deer in the area. (You still have to be conscious of the noise you're making)

If you shoot an animal and wind up tracking it in the dark, put the blue filter over the lens. It makes the blood trail literally jump out at you.

To help find your stand in the dark, you can buy reflective tacks or tape that you can put on the tree or stand frame that will glow only when your flashlight hits them making it far easier to find in the dark.

No colorblind animal can see red light. That's why they are so popular with coyote hunters. (Coyotes are also colorblind)

I know for a fact that deer can't see red light as I've put my flashlight with a red filter on it directly on a deer in my backyard and it was totally oblivious to the light. They CAN see blue light. I found that out by replacing the red lens with the blue one I have and shining it on the same deer. It bolted the instant the blue light hit it.

There have been several reports written by biologists that say that deer can see ultraviolet light. That is the big reason that many people recommend that you wash your hunting clothes with a NON whitening laundry detergent. The whiteners contained in those are what makes a hunter stand out as a bluish object to deer.Deer hunters: Do Deer See Blue Lights?
Deer are colorblind, but they have an extended visual spectrum compared to humans. Blue shows up brightly to them, and they'll see a blue light, but I imagine it would be no more, and perhaps less, disturbing to them compared to white light. They'll see the brightness, though, in either case.

There is a myth that deer see the color blue, simply because it shows up as bright to them.
Actually deer can see blue very well, check out this website:

However, spotlighting is an illegal method of taking deer in many states, so please check with you'r local wildlife commision for the laws.
They can't see red. But the only reason you'd need it is if you're gonna be out to the stand so early that you cant see to make your way there. But if not, just use a normal light, because by the time you need to get off the stand in the evening, shooting/harvest hours are over.
If your going hunting, you don't need a blue light of any kind. If you are going into the woods before daylight, use a regular flashlight. If there are any deer in the area you enter they may run but others will come through.
ive read this in a magazine and it also said that hunters glow blue from the way that deer see.....my guess is it is just a scam as they were advertisning a spray you apply to not appear blue
Spotlighting is illegal in most places, I'm pretty sure. It is in my state, anyway.

But I think the only color deer can't see is red.
they will see whatever color light you point at them but you don't need a flashlight unless you are going to be illegally hunting in the dark
Probably not. I never saw any around the old KMart blue light specials.

Why do you need lights? Not for illegal night hunting?
from what i have read deer see blue about the best ,, i always use a red light to get to and from the stand
The blue lens is for a spectrum that mammals can't see.
they cant see the blue but they can see the light
Just bring a flashlight
some people say they cant see this or that..but no one knows for sure.

just use a flash light
