I didnt think of that i have a 28inch draw and pulling 70lbs is 294 fast enough to get a deer at 40 yards?

if not how to make it fasterI didnt think of that i have a 28inch draw and pulling 70lbs is 294 fast enough to get a deer at 40 yards?
You have enough there to kill a deer. You might not think the speed you have is enough, but think about how much your projectile weighs compared to a rifle bullet. Shot placement is important in all cases.

On average a hunting arrow weighs between 400 and 560 grains over the length of the shaft. Versus an average 30 cal bullet between 125 grains to 200 grains. Your bullet will punch a small hole around the size fo a nickel versus the cutting diameter of greater than 1 inch in diameter.

The bullet is designed to kill by concussion and hemorrhaging versus and arrow designed to kill by bleeding. The arrow has the cutting and hitting energy 3 to 4 times greater than a bullet and the bleeding of the wound is more humane than the bullet if it does not kill on impact.I didnt think of that i have a 28inch draw and pulling 70lbs is 294 fast enough to get a deer at 40 yards?
YES,its more than enough, remember bigger and faster is not best.Practise ,practise and more practise.
Your good. As long as you can hit with it you have enough bow.

Dave
I don't think bows will shoot much faster than what you have already!
Yup, that is pretty fast, depending on the bow you have, alot of times the faster it is the less accurate it is. I like a fast arrow but like it to be more accurate, I keep mine at 273 fps, If you are target shooting and you notice its not shooting in the same spot every time i would turn your pounds down if you can...pretty sure i read somewhere a arrow can go through a deer (if hit right) at 30 fps... but that would obviously be hard to get 40 yards accurately going that slow, haha

good luck
You can get a deer at 40 yds with a youth bow and a 45 lb draw. It all depends on how the deer ';jumps the arrow'; or if it notices you drawing back
Nope, not at all. It was fine when you posted the question 5 questions ago, but since then deer have gotten tougher.
I think your fine.
