Question about buying deer hunting land?

my dad and grandpa were wondering if anyone knew how much some people charge for an acre in north louisiana? please helpQuestion about buying deer hunting land?
We are paying a little over $6 an acre to lease land from Roy .O Martin timber company. But I feel they are one of the highest in the state to lease from. And unfortunately land is sky high due to the demand for good hunting land. Your best bet is to locate an area that you would like to own a little land in. Then go to the courthouse and find out the names of the owners by looking at the land tracts. Then contact those that have land holdings in the areas that you would like to own. Some may be willing to sell all or part of their holdings. To find out what is available for leasing, you just need to find out the names of the local timber companies in your part of the state and go to their website. They will have all the available leases listed and a map and brief description of them, plus their location. And the price per acre will be on the website. Some of the timber companies in north La.- Roy.O Martin, T.L. James, International, Boise-Cascade,and Weyanhauser (misspelled the last one) Good luck!Question about buying deer hunting land?
Tyler, if you're serious about buying or leasing land, call a realtor in the area you think you would like to hunt and ask them. They will know if there are any leases available and the price, as well as what land is selling for per acre. Be prepared for a shock at the prices you're quoted.
Hope you mean ';per acre'; and not just 1 acre.

Land is getting scarce near the cities, but out in the country, cut-over land sells for about $400-600 per acre.

Unless you are buying a lot......then down to about $200.
WOW!! I should move to La. In western Oklahoma its $1,000-$1200 per acre to buy and $12-$15 to lease just for hunting.
