Death.....my boyfriend hit a deer on a country road?

it died on the side of the road. My boyfriend has been paralyzed with guilt and grief............what can I say to him ?Death.....my boyfriend hit a deer on a country road?
Just be as supportive as you can be, Explain to him that this time of years is the mating season or ';Rut'; as it's called. Deer are high strung during this period and have a tendency to run with little regard for oncoming cars, and trucks..even more so at night with approaching headlights...Hitting Deer is a very common occurrence that happens all over the U.S. and Canada. Here in the U.S., many Police Departments have contacts with a program called Hunters Feeding the Hungry, that will have someone respond to the accident scene and remove the fresh killed Deer to be used for food for the homeless and less fortunate. This is a FREE service. This is a way that nothing goes to waste and despite being a sad situation..usually gives comfort knowing the Deer died with a purpose...Either way explain to him that it is not his fault, but an ';accident'; in every sense of the word.Hopefully this will give him comfort and knowledge for him to help others rather than grieve so strongly himself..Good Luck..Death.....my boyfriend hit a deer on a country road?
He should have stocked his freezer with venison......
And let this be a lesson to those that think hunting is wrong. If there was no deer hunting, instances like this would happen a lot more frequently.
It's not his fault. Deers get killed all the time. They always jump out of nowhere and get hit by cars. Tell him not to worry. Everybody will hit a deer at least once in their life. It's just fate.
Skin him out and into the freezer with him!...Look at it this way, you saved a bullet...Free Meat!
If it was a accident u just say it wasnt ur fault, things like this happen all the time to people. Suggust go see a therepist and talk with them about the situation. After a free weeks or monthes drive back down that same road the deer died on an see if he still has guilt.
Its the natural way of life for deer nowadays it seems
It was an accident, it was not like he did it on purpose.... tell him that....the deer ran out, you hit it by accident, nothing you could do..... dont feel guilty, not like you intentionally ran down a little kid.
*hit happens, tell him things like that happen everyday, hopefully it didnt go to waste, thats the part that would get to me, even if he doesnt like wild game there are many homeless shelters and food banks that would make sure that the animal didnt die in vein, the way my season has gone so far though maybe I should start hunting with my pickup truck..
Deer populations are out of control in MANY areas, that is why some states allow multiple tags per season.

They are to the point in some areas that they are actually living in the suburbs.

Many are starving and in poor condition for lack of food. Hundreds even thousands are hit on the highways and roads every year, he is just one of those unfortunate people who had the bad luck to hit one.
Sad but unavoidable. Give him your support, but he's over-reacting a bit. In my area, despite almost everybody hunting, the deer population is so high that one of the ladies I work with actually hit deer on 4 separate occasions last year alone, much to the delight of the local body shop. Even one of those little whistles designed to warn the deer didn't stop her string, and fortunately she never got hurt.
The deer commited suicide by car. It sounds like to me your boyfriend needs to lay off the estrogen for a while and maybe grow a set.
Deer are almost as stupid as turkeys, somewhere between politicians and the French (no reports please, I'm of French background).

Tell him not to worry. But drive a little more carefully in deer country.

In the last 50 years I've hit three deer. Two of them got up and ran away as I'd seen them in time to slow down. The rhird one I hit on purpose. It was standing in the road and wouldn't move. After I stopped, I crept up on it until the bumper nudged its legs. It jumped like it had gotten an electric shock and ran off at speed.

Some times they just stand there in the headlights, looking like Bush.
tell him it was the deers fault. and then slap him in the face and tell him to man up
I would feel the same way.It is horrible to leave the deer on the side of the road like that.

Tell him next time that happens check out the deer to see just how bad it has been hit and if not too bad,you can get a license from your local Ministry(here it is only like $5.00) and you can salvage the deer.

The area where it has been hit may have to be thrown away but you may be able to get a few roasts and at the very least some sausage.
IT WAS THE DEERS TIME TO GO , DEAL WITH IT %26amp; GET OVER IT %26amp; MOVE ON . WE ALL HAVE A TIME TO GO AND IT DOES'T MATTER HOW WE DIE . FOR WHATEVER REASON HE WAS SUPPOSED TO KILL THE DEER , NOTHING IS BY CHANCE . MAY BE TO MAKE A MORE CAREFUL DRIVER OUT OF HIM , AND WOULDN'T HAPPEN WITH OUT THE DEER .
